Analemma

The Analemma is the figure one finds if one takes a photograph of the sun at a fixed time every day. Here are two examples:

         

 

When 'looking' towards the sky from a given point on the edge of the sundial, which means that one looks at a fixed time, one therefore finds the Analemma curve on the sky! The following two picture from the top and the bottom indicator of the dial were taken by placing the camera on the edge of the dial.
